Episode V
In
our last episode, Oxbrain resigns as CEO of Billowy Technologies.
Alexi brings him back to the park adjoining Breakneck's farm.
Other farm animals want to be
CEO and seek Alexi's help in this.
Happy to be back home, Oxbrain looks forward to taking naps on the couch,
where work and worry are

______ "Are
we there yet?"
_____ "Alexi,
if you're the driver you don't ask that question."

They reached the park that adjoined Breakneck's farm just before dawn.
As they got out of the truck, a duck, a
sheep, a cow and a pig walked up to them.
_____ "We hear that
Oxbrain has resigned as CEO of your Daddy's company, and that he might be
looking for another animal to replace him," said the pig.
_____ "Maybe,"
said Alexi, a bit surprised at seeing yet another talking animal.
_____ "Tell your Daddy
to hire me, and I'll take care of all your health insurance needs!" said
the duck.
_____ "Don't listen
to that quack," said the cow. "Tell your Daddy to hire me as
CEO, and I'll let you have all the chicken burgers you can eat!"
_____ "That's chicken
feed!" said the sheep. "Tell your Daddy to hire me, and you'll have
many more of your friends to play with. My name's Dolly, by the way... "
_____ "Mere wool
gathering," scoffed the pig. "Hire me, Alexi, and and I'll make
you rich beyond your wildest dreams. Subject, of course, to the availability
of abundant venture capital funds."
_____ "What's your
name?" inquired Alexi.
_____ "My name is
Capitalist."
_____ "Huh?"
_____ "Capitalist
the Pig," he said, helpfully.
_____ "Are you from around here?"
_____ "Why, yes. I'm from Farmer Orwell's
farm, just over the hill. I pretty much have the run of the place."
_____ "You're confusing the child,"
Oxbrain scolded. "Everyone, go home now and let her sleep!"
The four animals left, melting back into the shadows.
_____ Alexi yawned and fell asleep while Oxbrain
stood guard.

_____ "Alexi,
wake up. You look like a happy camper. Were you sleeping under this tree all
night?" said a familiar voice.
_ ___
Alexi looked up to see her father looking down, smiling. It was morning.
_____ She yawned. "Are
you getting one of those animals to be your new CEO?"
_____ "It
doesn't matter now, Alexi. Our company is being bought out by a software-
media conglomerate. They'll be making the hiring decisions from now on."
_____ Oxbrain stood behind
a fence some distance away.
_____ "Let me say
goodbye to him, then."
_____ She walked over to where he was standing.
_____ "What
are you going to do now, Oxbrain?"
_____ "Well, I plan to have more adventures.
Maybe a trek through a vast rainforest on an important mission, where I survive
using only my wits, raw courage and brute strength."
_____ "For real?"
_____ "Then I'll lead an adventurous and
risky crusade for a good, but lost, cause. I'll be the hero of course, but
I won't tell you how it ends. You'll have to read about it in a later adventure."
_____ "Oxbrain, I just never know what you're
up to."
_____ "There's no crusade quite like what's
dreamed up from a comfortable sofa."
_____ Alexi looked askance at Oxbrain, supressing
a smile.
_____ "Will you come back and visit me soon?"
he finally said.
_____ "I will."
_____ "Goodbye, Alexi."
_____ "Goodbye, Oxbrain. And stop being
so silly."
